No doubt many of our churches will be engaging in Vacation Bible School this summer. This is both an important evangelistic tool to reach the children and families of our communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and an opportunity for our covenant children to grow in their faith. With the plethora of VBS curriculums available, what have you found that faithfully represents the Gospel and teaches the Word without getting lost in the hype? Vacation Bible School

With the plethora of VBS curriculums available, what have you found that faithfully represents the Gospel and teaches the Word without getting lost in the hype? Our church has used VBS Reachout Adventures (www.vbsreachout.com) and Great Commission Publications (www.gcp.org/curriculum_vbs.asp) for the past several years. They are both solidly biblical and Reformed, while still offering a format that is fun. Both curriculums have given us more options than we could use and each have multiple year rotations of themes. Teachers have commented that this material is very solid. John Piper's Children Desiring God (www.childrendesiringgod.org) has a series of VBS curriculums that look good as well, although I have no experience with them.
Three words: Children Desiring God.
They are maybe not as overtly "evangelistic" as I would like, but they are so solidly biblical that I can't recommend anything else (not even "Walk with Me", although I do give the latter credit for its visual diversity in its images.)

Lorraine Woodward
For the past two years, we have used Children Desiring God (Piper's curriculum), and it has been a great fit for us. It is incredibly Biblical, and yet does a good job of providing lesson that young Kids can get their minds around.
